LostFocusResponder
Released Open Source UE Plugin UE5 V0.60.1 August 2026
An Unreal Engine 5 plugin that runs your custom responses (pause, mute, framerate cap…) the moment the editor or game window loses focus.
What it does
A simple, lightweight UE5 C++ plugin. It wraps the low-level “game window lost focus” and “game window gained focus” logic into two directly bindable Blueprint events, so Blueprint developers can respond to window focus changes without writing any C++.
Features
- Focus-lost / focus-gained event nodes, bindable from Blueprint
- Built-in responses: pause the game, duck audio, cap framerate
- Works both in the editor and in packaged builds
Simple feature — but Blueprint simply doesn’t have it natively.
Contents
| Blueprint node | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| OnGameFocusLost | Event (BlueprintAssignable) | Fires when the game window loses focus (OS window is deactivated) |
| OnGameFocusGained | Event (BlueprintAssignable) | Fires when the game window gains focus (OS window is activated) |
| Get Lost Focus Responder | Pure function | Returns the subsystem reference used to bind the two events above |
| Is Game Focused | Pure function | Queries whether the game window is currently focused |
